About the Alliance

OUR LAND. OUR WATER. OUR FUTURE.

A Strong Voice for Oklahoma’s Irrigators

The Oklahoma Irrigators’ Alliance (OIA) brings agricultural producers from across the state together to advocate for policies that protect private property rights, promote responsible groundwater stewardship, and preserve the future of irrigated agriculture.

We believe the people who work the land deserve a meaningful voice in the decisions affecting their water, their livelihoods, and their communities.

Our mission is to unite Oklahoma’s irrigators around practical, effective water policies that respect property rights, recognize local knowledge, and support agriculture for generations to come.

What We Stand For

01

Private Property Rights

Agricultural producers make significant investments in their land and water infrastructure. We believe state water policies should protect landowners’ groundwater rights and provide the certainty producers need to plan, invest, and sustain their operations.

02

Responsible Groundwater Stewardship

Conserving Oklahoma’s groundwater resources is essential to the future of agriculture. We support voluntary conservation informed by sound science, practical experience, and local conditions.

Through improved irrigation technology and management practices, producers can make meaningful conservation gains. We support approaches that help them achieve measurable results while maintaining productive agricultural operations.

03

Local Knowledge and Local Control

Oklahoma’s groundwater resources, agricultural practices, and local conditions vary across the state. Water-management decisions should reflect those differences and meaningfully involve the people and communities most directly affected.

We believe local knowledge and producer leadership are essential to developing conservation approaches that work.

04

Practical, Effective Water Policy

Effective conservation policy should deliver real benefits without placing unnecessary financial or administrative burdens on producers. Conservation approaches must be economically workable for producers to adopt and sustain them.

We support practical policies that encourage voluntary participation, recognize producers’ conservation investments, and help farms remain productive while conserving groundwater for the future.

05

A Strong Future for Oklahoma Agriculture

Irrigated agriculture supports Oklahoma’s economy, rural communities, and agricultural heritage. We advocate for policies that allow producers to remain competitive, invest in their operations, and pass productive land and water resources to future generations.

Leadership Rooted in Agriculture

The Oklahoma Irrigators’ Alliance is led by agricultural producers with firsthand experience managing water resources and operating in Oklahoma’s agricultural economy.

Our founding board brings together 12 directors representing eight counties. Their leadership helps ensure that producers from different regions have a strong, informed voice in discussions about Oklahoma’s water future.
